Ever used a product, spotted something you don't like, and just thought – "I could design this so much better"? That’s exactly where I found myself with NordPass – and let’s just say, be careful what you wish for.
The idea of just scrapping everything and starting fresh sounds alluring: sleek visuals, smooth animations, polished microinteractions, UX that finally makes sense… but the reality is much messier. As it turns out, redesigning everything has little to do with actual design and tons of wrestling with legacy decisions, cutting through red tape, a hundred conversations on even the tiniest of buttons, and many other things.
In this talk, I’ll share how our team tackled a ground-up redesign of NordPass: why we did it, why we maybe shouldn't have done it, and the hard-earned lessons we learned along the way.
