Design systems can mean very different things depending on where your team, product, and organization currently are.

For some teams, a design system starts as a component library in Figma.
For others, it becomes shared infrastructure across design, frontend, product, documentation, governance, accessibility, and even AI-assisted workflows.

But where do you actually start?
How much structure do you really need?
When does a design system help teams move faster and when does it become another thing nobody wants to maintain?

Johannes Lehner will answer your questions and share practical perspectives. Bring your questions around design systems to discuss, such as:
How do you start a design system with limited time or team capacity?
What does "scaling" a design system actually mean?
Do you need a full design system, or would a smaller shared foundation already be enough?
And what changes when AI tools enter the workflow?

The session also connects to his upcoming WebExpo talk "Design Systems That Scale Smart: Building Systems That Grow With Your Teams, Tools, and Products", where he will cover how design systems can grow from where teams currently are: from simple foundations to more mature setups across tools, products, and teams.
