Key Note Speaker:
Russell J. Branaghan, PhD is President of Research Collective, a Healthcare Human Factors Engineering and User Experience (UX) consulting firm in Tempe, AZ . Research Collective works on products in robotic surgery, cardiology, diagnostic imaging, chronic disease management, artificial organs, in vitro diagnostics, healthcare apps, wearables, home health, and many others. Russ is also an Emeritus Faculty of Human Systems Engineering at Arizona State University and Visiting Professor of Human Factors Engineering at Northwestern University. Prior to returning to academics and consulting, Russ held leadership positions in human factors and UX at Hewlett Packard, IBM, Fitch and Lextant Corporation. An active researcher, Russ has published numerous research articles, book chapters, and conference proceedings. Recently, he co-authored the book, Humanizing Healthcare - Human Factors for Medical Device Design published by Springer-Nature.

Theo is a well-knows UX consultant with over 20 years of experience in the field. He has organized World Usability Day events since the first WUD in 2004 and was the worldwide chairman for the WUD Healthcare theme in 2007.

Mary Lane, Director of UX, Evoke Melt
Mary Lane is a veteran of the design field with over a decade of experience, a deep passion for the crossroads of technology, content, and user experience; as Director of UX at Evoke Melt, she is responsible for guiding a user-centric strategy with emphasis on research, usability and data driven insights. Her professional pedigree includes a B.S. from Georgia Institute of Technology and driving engagement for healthcare & life sciences brands such as Johnson & Johnson, Abbvie, Genentech, Ochsner Health, and Cleveland Clinic. Passionate about expanding the field of design and elevating UX practices, Mary has been an active member of local design and UX organizations in Arizona, as well as in Chattanooga, TN where she lives with her husband and two dogs, Jack and Cozzi.

Tiffany Leverenz, Manager, Human Factors and User Research, Intuitive
Tiffany Leverenz has been conducting Human Factors research for almost a decade, with the large majority focused on usability, user experience, and safety in the healthcare domain. She received her PhD in Human Factors Psychology from Wichita State University, where she partnered on numerous healthcare projects with Children’s Mercy Kansas City, University of Kansas School of Medicine, and Sedgwick County EMS. Tiffany has also worked on multiple contract projects for consumer product companies, such as Honeywell, Harley Davidson, and Dell. Currently, she is a manager on the Human Factors and User Research team at Intuitive, focused on digital and service design for the intraoperative and surgeon experience space.

Dan Bruner, Sr. Director of UX at Teladoc Health
With a high-tech engineering background from consumer electronics to automated chemistry analyzers and mission computers for fighter jets, Dan adds over two decades of diverse UX/UXR experience. As Sr. Director of UX at Teladoc Health, he is passionate about finding creative research solutions that allow his team to answer interesting and meaningful questions about human behavior. He has had to satisfy a wide range of users with a special focus (and place in his heart) for acute neurologists. Several of his team’s solutions are actively addressing the issue of HCP burnout. While advocating for WCAG his team has made process improvements to push the A11Y needle far into the pervasive zone in design work at Teladoc Health. Dan lives in Solvang, Ca and is currently working on his pilot’s license where some of the most challenging examples of man-machine interface exist in a life-threatening environment.
