Learning UX in 2025: Dead End or Fresh Start?

Details
Is it still worth learning UX?
Is the market oversaturated, or is there still a career here worth building? And if you do want to learn UX, how do you even start? With bootcamps, Master’s degrees, certifications, and online courses everywhere, how do you know what’s actually worth your time and money?
We’ve been asking ourselves the same questions because we’re right in the middle of teaching the next generation of UXers, and let's be honest, we're all in the same boat.
Over the past few years, we've embraced teaching fully online, and we’ve seen firsthand what’s changed: what makes online learning powerful, what makes it harder, and how it’s reshaping the way people prepare for real jobs.
In this chat, we’ll dig into:
- Whether UX is still a career worth betting on.
- What skills actually matter if you want to get hired?
- How to tell the difference between a solid course and a shiny scam.
- Why balancing practice, projects, and theory is harder (and more important) than ever.
- The courses and programs we’ve seen actually work for students.
We’re not here to sell you a course. We’re here to be honest about the challenges, share what we’ve learned, and talk with the community about what we've observed and what we believe will come next.
About the speakers
👋 We’re Aga and Marie-Aude, your hosts at the UX·R Guild, career switchers to UXR, Sr. UXRs who navigated job market hypes and crashes. We're also passionate instructors who chose to go back to university to give back to the community, because, besides being UXR nerds, we believe we can make an impact on the next generation of UXers.
There will be plenty of time for Q&A. Bring your questions (or send them to us ahead of time if you’d like), your doubts, and your curiosity.
We’d love to see you there.
Cheers,
Aga & Marie-Aude
