Join Vadim Zang for workshops focused on classical drawing and painting based on academy principles. Vadim is classically trained in academic traditions and has been teaching in Los Angeles for over 20 years.
Classes include:

Figure/Head Construction – Learn to build solid human forms from the inside out, using shape, symmetry, proportion, likeness, gesture, and range of volumes to construct the structure in 3D. Each session is split evenly: two hours will focus on figure construction, and the other two on portraits.

Tonal Sketching: Landscapes and Perspectives – Learn how to compose and edit images based on the tonal solution of the composition, using light, shadows, range of volumes, and one to four-point perspective. Classes are three hours.

Alla Prima Painting: Master Study Workshop – This class requires strong drawing skills and a solid knowledge of figure/head construction. It will focus on colors, composition, shapes, volumes, and likeness. Each session works on interpreting the unique characteristics of a selected master artist, such as Rubens, Velázquez, Rembrandt, Bouguereau, Repin, Sargent, and more. Classes are five hours.

The Alla Prima Painting: Master Study Workshop class requires strong drawing skills and a solid knowledge of figure/head construction. The class will focus on colors, composition, shapes, volumes, and likeness. Materials needed include:
- Kneaded Eraser
- Canvas 11x14, 12x16, 14x18 (Canvas should gessoed and sandpapered prior to class)
- Oil Paints: Ochre Yellow, Cadmium Red, White, and Black (Zorne Palette)
- Brushes (Small, Medium, Big - some flat,some round)
- Palette Knife
- Palette
- Gamsol
- Linseed Oil
- Paper Towels

- H, HB, and 2B pencil
- Woodless graphite pencil (HB and B)
- Kneaded Eraser
- Small Point Eraser Pen (e.g. Tombow Mono Zero)
