Handling a pivoting business in 1 code base by David Skehan, Software Engineer @ The Solace

Three connected products in one codebase: software for funeral homes, public memorial pages, and an aftercare service for grieving families. All sharing a single record, a death. Building them together was the best decision we made and the worst.

This talk covers both sides: the coupling between the products, the shortcuts that hardened into the design, and what it takes to ramp up and demo three products of different maturity from the same repo. It also covers the part you cannot design around, that the data is real people reporting real deaths, and how that changes the way you build.

After the talk we will throw the floor open for discussion on the architectural tradeoffs and other feedback. Should be very interesting!
