Eclipse Foundation Members Take Over ValenciaJUG

¿Pensabais que Enero iba a pasar sin un nuevo encuentro de la comunidad Java en Valencia? ¡Nada de eso, javer@s! Empezamos el año por todo lo alto, con un evento muy especial el 20 de Enero de este nuevo 2026, dedicado completamente a la Eclipse Foundation — una de las organizaciones que más ha contribuido a la evolución de Java y del software Open Source.
En esta ocasión contaremos con los siguientes miembros de la Eclipse Foundation y sus presentaciones, que nos ofrecerán tres sesiones imperdibles, combinando historia, visión de futuro y debate abierto sobre el ecosistema Open Source:

1️⃣ The Past, Present, and Future of Enterprise Java

• Ponente: Ivar Grimstad, Jakarta EE Developer Advocate at Eclipse Foundation.
• Duración: 40 minutos
• Resumen

Over the last 30 years, Java has been the preferred technology for developing enterprise applications. Frameworks and approaches such as J2EE, Spring Framework, Java EE, Spring Boot, and Jakarta EE all contribute to this success story.
The Jakarta EE 11, with features for increasing performance and developer productivity —like support for virtual threads and the new Jakarta Data specification— pushes things even further.
This session will take you through the history of Enterprise Java, showcase everything new in Jakarta EE 11 with hands-on demos, and explore what’s in store for Jakarta EE 12.

About Ivar Grimstad:
Ivar is the Jakarta EE Developer Advocate at Eclipse Foundation, Java Champion, and JUG Leader based in Sweden. He contributes to the Jakarta EE specifications, serves as PMC Lead for Eclipse EE4J, and co-leads Jakarta MVC. Ivar also represents Eclipse Foundation on the JCP Executive Committee and is a frequent international speaker.

2️⃣ Lightning Talk: Jakarta EE — Why and how to get involved in Open Source Software?

In this session, you’ll learn how to become part of an open source community, how to get involved, and why you should! Discover the current and future plans of Jakarta EE and gain insights into the open collaboration that is modernizing Java enterprise systems for cloud-centric use cases.

3️⃣ Panel Discussion: A World of Open Source — The Eclipse Foundation’s Impact on Ecosystems and Technology

• Duración: 20 minutos

• Resumen:

This panel will explore the role of the Eclipse Foundation in the open source ecosystem, its influence on Java and other technologies, and what’s next.
Eclipse Foundation Program Managers will discuss initiatives like Eclipse IDE, Software Defined Vehicle, Open VSX, Cloud Dev Tools, IoT (Oniro, Sparkplug, Embedded), and Open Regulatory Compliance.
