San Pablo Bay Trail Hike (Family Friendly)
Details
Welcome to Vallejo Hiking Club
Let's get outside! We're building a community of Vallejoans who take pride in our amazing natural spaces. Join us as we explore Vallejo's most popular, and best hidden, hiking areas.
We aim to make this a family and senior friendly space, so please bring the whole family. We also hope to grow this into all sorts of wonderful events, from bird watching to plein air painting lessons to sunset strolls. Do you have an idea for a hike or are you interested in participating as a guide? Reach out!
Details:
- Starting Point: we'll meet at the parking lot of the San Pablo Bay Hiking Trail on Mare Island. Turn on Dump Road off of Azuar Drive and you'll come up on a gravel parking lot.
- Hike Start Time: 10:00am
- Hike Distance: The full loop is 3.6 miles, but we'll likely cut it short as the end of the trail is overgrown. We estimate it will probably take between 60 and 90 minutes. There's also a shorter 1.5 mile option for those who want a quicker walk.
- Hike Difficulty: Easy. It's a flat hike, but there's no shade so it could get hot.
- Bring: Water, hat, sunglasses, binoculars, and bug spray.
- Dogs: Not allowed on this trail, sorry!
- This is a great spot for bird watching, so bring some binoculars if you have them! There are also good spots to see some of the Mare Island's more hidden history.
