Jean Dry Lake - Lake Mohave - Nelson Ghost Town
Details
We will be camping on the Jean Dry Lake. This is the next exit after Primm. For those of you that do not want to camp, you can park your trailers at our Jean Dry Lake campsite and stay at Primm Resort which is 15 miles from camp.
I will be arriving on Wednesday and have posted rides for Thursday - Saturday. Sunday will be open riding.
Thursday Ride - Camp to the Mountain Springs Saloon
We will leave camp and head North towards Goodsprings. We will then head into the mountains and make a stop at the Paradise Prospect Mine.
Next we will take Portesi Pass and head Northeast towards the Spring Mountains. We will cross highway 160 and take some side roads towards Mountain Springs. We will need to cross back across the highway a couple time before reaching our destination, The Mountain Springs Saloon. After our lunch stop, we will head up the trail and then parallel the highway West until we cross back across the highway and head South towards Sandy Valley. Before we reach town, we will make a left turn and head back into the mountains ending up on Wilson Pass. We will then take a 5-mile loop over to the Azurite Mine and then it's back towards Goodsprings. We will leave Wilson Pass and head South before making another left and cross highway 161. Then our final section will take us into Jean for a fuel stop and then back to camp.
92 miles.
Friday Ride - Camp to Lake Mojave
We will leave camp and head over to Nipton. After a short ride on highway 164 we will make a right turn and take trails across the desert and then into the mountains. We will arrive in Searchlight where we will top off our tanks and then head down towards Placer Cove for lunch lakeside. After lunch we will explore the Nelson Ghost Town before climbing into the mountains then dropping down into a valley. The road back to camp is rocky and climbs high into the mountains before dropping us back onto Jean Dry Lake. 130 miles
Saturday Ride - Camp to the Pioneer Saloon
We will leave camp and head over to the Seven Magic Mountains. Then we will head towards Sloan and cross Interstate 15. Hopefully we find the tunnel under the railroad tracks and explore some cool rocky technical trails. Now it's North towards the Wild Horse Cabin and then South towards the Pioneer Saloon. After a drink or two it's a short ride back to camp. 79 miles.
Saturday Night Ride to The Idle Spurs Tavern
We will leave camp around 6PM and head over to the Idle Spurs Tavern for dinner and drinks. This is about a 20 mile ride each way. If you plan to join us for dinner and would like to see the menu you can see it here and call ahead to and place your order before we head out:
