Summer Birds at Heebner Park/Zacharias Trail

Details

Note that we will be starting at 7:30 am to avoid the summer heat later in the morning.

Join us for a 2 to 3 hour birding field trip at Heebner Park and Zacharias trail. We did our spring outing here a little earlier in May than usual and although we had some early arriving warblers, we missed many species that we usually see later in the spring like indigo buntings, cedar waxwings, brown thrashers, and willow flycatchers.

Most of this outing will be in areas that are not shaded so you may want to bring sunscreen, a hat, and water.

Beginning birders and children (accompanied by an adult) are welcome to join us on this 1.5 to 2 mile stroll. The trails are flat and mostly gravel-covered and there is a restroom on site. Bring binoculars if you have them. The leaders will have a pair to loan out. Use the entrance on Valley Forge Road (Rt 363). Drive to the back of the parking lot and park by the tennis courts. Do not use the Heebner Rd entrance. Note that GPS may show the town as Worcester or Collegeville.

Leaders: Pat & Tony Nastase (patnastase@gmail.com)
