Summer Birds and Waterfowl at Lower Perkiomen Valley Park

Details
Lower Perkiomen Valley Park offers the opportunity to bird along wooded edges and along the Perkiomen Creek. We will be walking in the grass and on wood chip-covered trails along the river to avoid the bikers and joggers on the paved trail. The grass will be wet so wear waterproof shoes or boots. We will be walking in the sun and shade so you may want to bring a hat, sunscreen, and water. This outing will be 1.5 to 2 hours and will start at 7:30 am. During a recent visit we were able to see green and great blue herons, belted kingfishers, and wood ducks along with a variety of songbirds.
Park in the lot at the end of New Mill Road (40.1244431, -75.4486112), where restrooms and the park office are located.
No prior knowledge of birds or birding is necessary to attend – beginners are always welcome! Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Bring binoculars if you have them. The leaders will have a pair to loan out.
