An Evening in Nature at Welkinweir

Details

Evenings are always a magical time to be out in nature and nowhere is a late summer evening more lovely than at Welkinweir, a private nature preserve whose name means "where sky meets water". Join volunteer guides from the Valley Forge Audubon Society for a "golden hour" birding-and-beyond stroll around the grounds of this beautiful former estate, which is normally closed in the evenings but will be open to us for this event. Come relax, breathe deeply, and enjoy an evening in nature with us - and perhaps with the resident beavers, too, if they choose to make an appearance.

This is a family-friendly event, so kids are welcome and encouraged to join us (all children must be accompanied by an adult.) We will be travelling a little over a mile along unpaved and uneven dirt footpaths over the course of two hours, so please wear sturdy shoes with good tread. There is one steep hill to navigate.

Bring binoculars if you have them and meet in the visitor parking lot west of the main entrance. A portable restroom is available on site.
