Late Summer Birds at Gwynedd Preserve

Details

Gwynedd Preserve is an oasis of nature nestled among the highly developed suburbs of Blue Bell and North Wales. After more than a century in agriculture, the preserve’s fields are being carefully restored. A walk along the trails reveals a re-emerging ecosystem of native plants including warm-season grasses and wildflowers. With the big sky and open fields, it’s a great place for viewing raptors. The fields are good habitat for sparrows. We will also be looking for resident birds and any departing fall migrants.

New birders are always welcome at VFAS programs. Children are welcome if accompanied by an adult. There is one accessible restroom at the management center. Please bring binoculars if you have them. The leaders will have 2 pairs to share.

Note: Please do not park in the small parking area at the entrance. Because we will be a larger group, VFAS has been granted a larger parking area. Once you go through the gate, drive down the entrance road and park in the small lot up by the management center. You can also park along the grass in front of, and along the side of, the management center. The preserve opens at 8 but they will have the gate open for us at 7:30 am.
