On December 4th the final supermoon of the year—known as the Cold Moon—will light up the night sky, appearing larger and brighter than usual. Join Valley Forge Audubon Society and Marsh Creek State Park's environmental educator on a guided evening hike where we'll hope for clear skies to give us stunning views of the full moon reflected in the water of Marsh Creek Lake. Crisp air, dark skies, and perhaps the hoots of an owl will remind us of the magic that is all around us in nature, even in winter, if only we make time to experience it.

Please come prepared for cold weather and wear sturdy shoes. You may also want to bring hiking poles for stability in the dark. Bring a flashlight or headlamp in case of cloud cover (red-light flashlights are best as they don't impact your night vision or that of those around you), but we will strive to use only the reflected light of the moon to guide us. We will hike about a mile out-and-back with some elevation gain to get the best views of the moon's reflection on the water. There is a portable restroom available at the parking lot.

This event will be cancelled in case of rain.

TO FIND US: Follow driving directions to 800 N Reeds Rd, Downingtown, but instead of turning right into the stables at that address follow the road to the left down the hill. Do not go to the east side day use area.
