Early Spring Birding at Fischer’s Park
Details
Do you have a favorite spring bird? Maybe it’s the early-arriving Eastern Phoebe, “saying its name” as its call, or the noisy male red-winged blackbirds flashing their bright red wing-patch as they fly. Or maybe it's the gorgeous blue-backed tree swallow, or the resident bluebirds getting ready to raise their first brood of the season. These are among our favorites too, and we will be exploring for those and more during this Fischer’s Park outing.
Come join Towamencin's Bird Town Committee member Andrew Dolan and other VFAS volunteer guides on our 1+ mile route for the whole time, or for as long as you can stay. The path is easy and mostly-paved, with some areas of gradual incline and varied habitats of field, woods edge, and stream. We’ll watch and listen for other resident species and more migrating in such as gray catbirds, early orioles, and various warblers.
All ages, abilities, and experience levels are welcome, including children if accompanied by an adult. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Bring binoculars if you have them. Guides will have several pairs to loan.
Accessible restroom facilities are on site.
Co-sponsored by Valley Forge Audubon Society and Towamencin Township.
