Big Bear Lake, CA Extended Weekend Adventure
Details
Valley Gladiator First Big Bear Trip is almost upon us! I’m so looking forward to enjoying breathtaking views, pristine natural environment and of course the AWESOME off-road Adventures.
Day 1 Thursday July 13th
We will begin our trip with a scenic Clarks Summit trail that will take us up and down the mountains to some of the most gorgeous overlook spots in the area. This trail is considered Moderate and is rated 3 to 4 on a difficulty scale predominantly due to a few steep and narrow sections. The trail can be completed in any stock Jeep.

Day 2 Friday July 14th
We are going to step up the difficulty level by a notch or two and complete the Gold Mountain trail. This is a Badge of Honor trail consisting of rock crawling, waterfalls and more amazing views. My favorite section on the trail is a rock garden called “The Bone Garden”. Driving through it literally sounds like crushing bones. The trail is rated 4 to 5 on the difficulty scale. You will need a modified vehicle with at least a 2-inch lift and 33+ inch tires. The most challenging part of the whole trail is the gatekeeper right at the very beginning. If you can get through it, then your rig has what it takes to complete the trail.

Day 3 Saturday July 15th
Today we will conquer another Badge of Honor trail named Holcomb Creek. Make no mistakes about it, this is a very difficult 6 to 7 rock crawling trail that will test your patience and your rig capabilities. You will need 35+ inch tires, 2.5+ inch lift, winch, skid plates, body armor and lockers are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Long wheelbase on the Gladiator will significantly increase the difficulty level on this trail. I only expect half the Jeeps or less in our group to attempt this one with me. Full disclaimer, I have not done this trail before and am looking forward to conquering it!
For those that are not coming on this ride, you can use the day to relax and enjoy everything that Big Bear has to offer. Another option is an easy self-guided historic off-road tour via Gold Fever OHV Trail.
