Come join Valley Jeepsters for an exciting Adventure conquering Hieroglyphic Mountains Loop near Wickenburg — an iconic desert trail known for its rocky climbs, winding washes, and incredible Sonora Desert scenery. This trail will have numerous opportunities to enjoy towering saguaros, rugged mountain backdrops, and glimpses of ancient petroglyphs that give the area its name. It’s the perfect ride to enjoy the outdoors, build trail confidence, and share the adventure with fellow Jeepsters who appreciate great views, challenging trails, and the camaraderie that comes with exploring Arizona’s back country together.
This trail is rated a solid five due to a few steep and narrow shelf roads climbing alone desert ridges mimicking a slow-motion roller coaster. There is also a steep rutted descent that may test your nerves! It has many optional obstacles to play on and test your articulation. Also, an interesting comment in the FunTreks book: “this trail is not for kids on their own”.
Full Disclaimer: I have never done this trail before and will be exploring with you for the first time. I have decided to run it without a scouting run due to the fact that it’s a popular trail frequented by many groups including Jeep Jamboree.
