Pyeatt Draw (Payson) Adventure
Details
Pyeatt Draw, located just outside of Payson, Arizona, offers a challenging, "choose your own adventure" style off-roading experience primarily through a rocky, boulder-filled wash. While the main hardcore line provides non-stop crawling action and difficult shelf climbs, it can be bypassed by an adjacent, scenic forest road that mirrors the draw. Only the most modified vehicles should attempt the trail's notorious final obstacle, "The Filter," which is known to cause body damage and break downs.
Unlike most trails in Arizona, there are no narrow shelf roads to conquer here. Instead, the trail consists of a short 1.3 miles difficult rock crawling section in the wash with up to 3 feet high rock ledges. There are 2 or 3 mandatory obstacles in the beginning that will be highly challenging without a 2.5 inch lift and rear lockers. After that, If you decide rock crawling is not your thing, a bypass trail runs in parallel to the obstacles path.
What makes this trail fun are the numerous obstacles you can conquer ranging from 4 to 10 on the difficulty level. The most difficult is “The FILTER” where very few Jeeps if any have succeeded. We will stop by and pay our respects to this formidable obstacle.
Without optional obstacles, this is a short 3 to 4 hours trail. It can easily take twice as long or more to complete if people decide to conquer optional obstacles. Please plan accordingly!
We will meet at the Gas Station located at 2010 N Beeline Hwy, Payson, AZ 85541 and drive 30 minutes to the trailhead. If you’re unable to make it, please remove yourself from the event at least a day before! If you’re running late, let us know and we will wait for you.
