Exploring Suffield and Southwick Wildlife Management Areas

Details
Afternoon exploration of Suffield and Southwick Wildlife Management Areas, two large grassland areas managed by the State of Connecticut and Massachusetts respectively. We will walk 3-4 miles and get to know the area as we look for resident wildlife such as Northern Harrier, Common Raven and many species of wintering sparrows. In the summer this area is an important area for breeding grassland birds like grasshopper sparrow, eastern meadowlark, bobolink and field sparrows.
Dress for the weather, wear sturdy boots and bring your camera and binoculars.
We will meet in the Suffield Wildlife Management parking area. The parking area can be reached by taking Rt 168 to Babbs Rd in Suffield. The entrance to the parking area is on the right just before crossing the Massachusetts border.
