Talk about algorithms

This is a Sunday afternoon meetup where we get together and talk about anything related to algorithms. It is open to all experience levels and newcomers are welcome. Last week we talked about the eternity 2 puzzle, conformal mapping using triangulation, natural language processing (spatial representation of prepositions), computational geometry (algorithms for computing the convex hull and joining polygons), and some machine learning (SVM and Lagrange multipliers). We also discussed formats for the meetup (presenting on topics that we decide on at the previous meetup or working on projects together). Some possible projects that people suggested were sports betting, ways of storing encrypted medical data on servers external to the hospital without actually putting any intelligible data on those servers, a program that reads legal documents and detects ambiguities or loopholes, solving eternity 2, and encrypting folders before storing them on the cloud.
