Welcome to the Anti-Happening General Assembly of In/Appropriate Language, an anarcho-syndicalist art collective.

An anti-happening is a deliberately understated or non-spectacular event that resists performance, spectacle, or commodification, often framed as a poetic, political, or conceptual gesture.

This group is an informal gathering place for artists, writers, thinkers, and curious people who enjoy making things, sharing ideas, and supporting one another in creative work.

Whether you’re a painter, poet, designer, or someone who simply appreciates the creative process, you’re welcome.

The term “anti-happening” is meant with a light touch. We are not staging dramatic events or chasing trends. We are interested in slower, thoughtful kinds of expression such as small gatherings, meaningful conversations, and art that grows out of everyday life.

This is a space for sharing your work in progress, discovering what others are creating, finding inspiration, and meeting people with similar values.

There is no pressure to be polished or prolific. We value sincerity, kindness, and generosity of spirit. If you are here, we trust you’re someone who enjoys thoughtful dialogue and wants to be part of a healthy, respectful creative community.

You don’t need to have any particular background or level of experience, just bring curiosity and a willingness to connect.

While events are currently curated by the general secretary, the group thrives through the presence and participation of its members. Whether you share something of your own or simply join the conversation, your engagement helps shape the collective experience.
