What we’re about

Vancouvenites: Asexuals and Aromantics from Vancouver BC and the Lower Mainland.

We have two types of meetups: discussion + social.

Discussion meetups are generally held monthly, downtown at Qmunity http://qmunity.ca/ on Friday nights or Saturday afternoons. This is a safe space to discuss topics around asexuality with others who understand. The format is: Everyone shows up and gets seated in a big circle, we do a round of introductions, including gathering any topics people would like to talk about. We then split off into smaller groups to discuss those things, with a switch in the middle if people want to join a different topic mid-way through. Then we reconvene as a larger group and discuss things we learned, and end with a larger group discussion, and finally a round of "what worked well / suggestions for next time." It's also a potluck so people bring food/snacks/desserts to share with others, and that gets snacked on periodically.

Social meetups are held on a more ad-hoc basis, as cool opportunities come up. For example: meeting at a coffee shop to chat, escape rooms, rock climbing, holding parties around special events (Valoween, Ace Prom), the occasional group road trip. There tends to not be a lot of discussion at these around asexuality; it's more about making friends and doing fun things together. Members are encouraged to suggest and/or schedule social meetups of their own, as well!

Note: Due to COVID, no meetups are in person. We are running everything on discord right now. If you haven't joined yet but would like to, feel free to follow this link: https://discord.gg/5y6et7k

This discord server will likely be left open and hopefully active even after COVID. Please check back when restrictions are completely lifted to see when we start in-person meets again.
