About us
Welcome to the Vancouver Classical Music & Literature Circle—a community for people who find pleasure, meaning, and inspiration in music and the written word.
From the choral works of Monteverdi and Bach to Mozart’s operas, Beethoven’s symphonies, and Chopin’s piano music, we’ll explore classical music in its many forms. Alongside it, we’ll discuss literature—from Shakespeare and Austen to Dostoevsky and beyond—and the questions these works raise about life, love, faith, and human nature.
Our gatherings will include listening sessions, book discussions, and relaxed café conversations. Some meetings may centre on a particular composer, author, or work; others will offer space to share favourites and discover something new.
I’m A.J., a musician and choir leader with a background in music, philosophy, and literature. I’ve led choirs and other arts circles, and I enjoy bringing people together to exchange ideas and connect through the arts.
You don’t need to be an expert to belong here. Whether you’ve spent years with these works or are just beginning to explore them, your curiosity and perspective are welcome.
At its heart, this circle is about getting together with people who share a love of classical music and literature. We’ll meet for lively discussions, attend concerts and cultural events, and get to know one another over coffee or a meal. Through these shared experiences, we hope to build lasting friendships and a welcoming community.
