Creating for the Metaverse: A Tour of the Departure Lounge

Details
UPDATE: There is a 30 person limit for this event. Apologies to anyone waitlisted who can’t make it.
Happy Summer (finally!)
I know it's been a while since the last meetup we've hosted, but that's because everyone has been very busy AND, we wanted to bring members something truly special.
This will be our first in-person meetup in more than 2 years, and it will be a field trip to a brand new space that is being set up as we speak.
What is it?
Founded by four stellar individuals, James Hursthouse, Adam Rogers, Charles Chreighton, and Monica Morgan, the Departure Lounge is a multi-purpose creative space located at the Centre for Digital Media.
It includes:
- Metastage: a volumetric capture studio
- Live show capture with Shocap Entertainment
- Markerless motion capture with Move.ai
- Object capture with So Real
- An interactive AR Wall for virtual backdrops in film production
We'll get a behind-the-scenes tour and explore the Metastage, and the AR Wall, to see how these spaces are enabling the production houses of the future.
We'll also have a chance to learn about the Departure Lounge's other initiatives in the Web 3.0 space, DeFi and how they build a "Passion Economy."
Let's meet up outside of Building 577 at 7:00 PM to start (start time may change as we get closer).
Oh, and please RSVP early, so I can get an idea of how many people will be able to fit in the space once we go inside.
Hope to see some friendly faces!
