🔥🏙️ AKIRA - power, bodies, and the city that breaks you!

Discussion only. Printed notes provided.

Short summary
Neo‑Tokyo is a pressure cooker. Teen friends get pulled into a military experiment, and one of them becomes something the city can’t control.
Akira isn’t just “cool cyberpunk.” It’s about adolescence as a political problem, the body as a battlefield, and what happens when power shows up before wisdom.

What we’ll explore
• Power and adolescence - freedom vs control, friends vs the state
• Body and identity - when transformation becomes horror
• City as character - decay, police, crowds, panic, spectacle
• Science and blame - experiments, coverups, who pays for progress
• What Akira gets right about modern society (and what it exaggerates)

How we’ll do it
• 8‑minute primer + idea map
• I’ll bring discussion topics → open floor
