Last minute plan : Baden Powell Trail (Quarry Rock to Lynn Valley)
Details
### 🥾 Hiking Details & What to Bring
Trail: Baden Powell Trail — Deep Cove to Lynn Canyon, North Vancouver 🌲
📏 Distance: Approximately 12–15 km
⏱️ Estimated hiking time: 4.5–5 hours
⛰️ Elevation gain: Approximately 420–600+ meters
🌿 Trail conditions: Expect a beautiful rainforest setting, with muddy sections, tree roots, and steep wooden stairs.
### 🎒 Essential Gear & Packing List
Please make sure you bring the following:
👟 Footwear: Sturdy hiking boots or trail runners with good grip. The trail can be muddy and slippery, with lots of roots and wooden stairs.
🧥 Clothing: Dress in layers and bring a waterproof jacket. The North Shore weather can change quickly, and the forest may remain wet even when it isn't raining. Avoid cotton if possible.
💧 Water: Bring at least 1.5–2 litres of water per person.
🥪 Food: Bring enough snacks and a packed lunch to keep your energy up. There are no food vendors along the middle section of the trail.
🗺️ Navigation: Download the trail map on AllTrails or another hiking app before we start, in case mobile reception is limited.
🐻 Wildlife awareness: Be aware of wildlife and follow local safety guidance. Check current park recommendations before deciding whether to carry bear spray, and know how to use it safely if you bring it.
### 🚗 Parking & Transportation
This is a point-to-point hike, meaning we'll start at Deep Cove (Point A) and finish near Lynn Canyon (Point B).
We'll meet at Point B at 8:00 a.m. and park our cars at the Mushroom Parking Lot. From there, we'll take an Uber to Point A and begin our hike.
Parking at Deep Cove can be difficult to find, and the three-hour parking limit makes it less convenient for this hike. Taking an Uber to the starting point should make things easier.
