VanJS: Async/Await and the Decentralized Web

Details

Join us for the spring edition of VanJS on March 28th! We're featuring guest speakers: Neil Kandalgaonkar and David Luecke. The event will be at VFS Cafe, located at 390 West Hastings Street just east of Homer Street.

Doors open at 6:30pm, and talks begin at 7pm.

  1. Neil Kandalgaonkar - Async and Await

At the end of this talk, you'll know how to use async/await in JavaScript, and the important gotchas.

And hopefully, you’ll also have a better sense of what’s really going on, and how to fix it when it doesn’t seem to be working.

Bio: Neil has worked on JS frontends at Wikipedia and currently hacks Node.js at VRChat.

  1. David Luecke - Getting Ready for the Decentralized Web

The decentralized web promises to give us more control over our data and how it is used and bring us closer to the original vision of the world wide web. In this talk I'd like to go over what it is, where things are at and how JavaScript may play a key role in a decentralized ecosystem.

Bio: David is an open sourcerer @feathersjs, decentralizer @bidalihq, rock-climber, synthesizerer, Vancouverite, German.

  1. Drinks
Join us for drinks after the event at the Irish Heather, located at 210 Carrall Street.

Thank you to Steamclock Software for sponsoring the space!
