Join our online Japanese Short Story Book Club, designed for advanced Japanese learners who can read Japanese novels and share their impressions in Japanese. Each session, we read one short story by a Japanese author and come together to share our thoughts ---- all in Japanese.
However, I understand that it can be quite difficult to obtain Japanese books while living outside Japan. Therefore, you are welcome to read the English translation of the assigned reading. (Of course, if you’re able to find the original Japanese version, that’s even better!)
Below, you’ll find information about the English edition of the book as well as the Japanese one. Please check with your local library to see if they have a copy available. If you still have trouble finding the book, please feel free to contact me.
The assigned book for this time is『七番目の男』by Haruki Murakami, which is included in the short story collection 『レキシントンの幽霊』.
The English translation of this story is included in the short story collection Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman by Haruki Murakami. The English title of the story is “The Seventh Man.”
Please read the assigned story before the meeting.
Discussion will be entirely in Japanese!
