Connecting All Things with Apache Kafka

  • Dec 8, 2016 · 5:00 PM

Times:

5pm doors and dinner served

6pm talks start

8pm mingling and beer time

Abstract: A stream processing platform is not an island unto itself; it must be connected to all of your existing data systems, applications, and sources. In this talk, we will discuss how the data integration world evolved over time, with the rise of the streams architectures. We'll provide different options for integrating systems and applications with Apache Kafka, with a focus on the Kafka Connect framework and the ecosystem of Kafka connectors. We will discuss the intended use cases for Kafka Connect and share our experience and best practices for building large-scale data pipelines using Apache Kafka.

Bio: Gwen Shapira is a system architect at Confluent helping customers achieve success with their Apache Kafka implementation. She has 15 years of experience working with code and customers to build scalable data architectures, integrating relational and big data technologies. She currently specializes in building real-time reliable data processing pipelines using Apache Kafka. Gwen is an author of "Kafka - The Definitive Guide", a PMC member on the Apache Kafka project and a frequent presenter at industry conferences. When Gwen isn't coding or building data pipelines, you can find her pedaling on her bike exploring the roads and trails of California, and beyond
