About us
Brunch with like-minded ladies! This intentionally small group is aimed at global-minded mid-30-somethings (35+) to 40ish ladies (under 50). Expats, locals who love to travel, internationals new to town. The vast majority of the group is aged between 35-45 and child-free. The ladies in this group generally work in professional careers and consider themselves quite independent and well-traveled overall. Beyond the fabulous meals themselves, conversations are the heart of the brunch - and the conversations are generally highly dynamic, intelligent and energizing. The intention is for you to feel welcomed at the table, and for you to feel like you’re meeting friends for a brunch. The environment is warm and friendly, and no one is a stranger, but rather a friend you haven’t met yet.
The group is kept intentionally small. It is also not meant for those who just want to casually drop-in once and a while. Rather, it is for those interested in joining an active group of brunchers who you'll meet and mix with more regularly, building connections over time. The intention is also for members to be reliable when signing up for a brunches as reservations at restaurants are made in advance, and there's usually a waitlist for brunches. Overall, in contrast to many larger social groups, I run this group as a very intentional small group, with each brunch very thoughtfully organized. This level of organization benefits everyone while keeping the group especially reliable. As a social Sunday experience, members arrive at a full table of eager like-minded brunchers.
This group may not be for you if you are someone who is unreliable or prefers casual drop-in socializing instead of making firm commitments...and this group is definitely not be for you if you don't value thoroughly pre-organized brunches at thoughtfully chosen & reserved locations.
All of that said, this group is not meant to be for everyone, but it may be for you if you consider yourself "like-minded."
"Likeminded," as it relates to this group, is defined as:
*Not only* are you within this age range and looking to meet new people, BUT you’re ALSO ALL of the following:
-
a foodie, who enjoys discovering new places,
-
someone who genuinely enjoys engaging in diverse conversations and making real connections with new people from diverse backgrounds,
AND
-
someone global-minded (ie. you have either lived abroad, are an expat or are a local who has regularly enjoyed international travel for work or leisure - to places other than resorts.)
These *three common denominators,* over which people in this group connect, take the connections far beyond being of a similar age.
***The intent of this group is social, for building friendship connections. The intention in joining should not be business/career networking as there are other meetups for that purpose.***
When you send a request to join, I ask that you answer a couple questions and share a little about yourself. Again, the intention is to keep the group smaller and aligned - and this helps with that. For acceptance, your profile photo must also be an actual photo of you (not an object, animal or animation).
**Why the age range?**
The general feedback I've been getting, which is consistent with my own experience in life, is that this (35+ and under 50) is a sort of in-between age range that gets missed and women in this age range have a hard time finding a group of likeminded people. So, my aim at this point, is to have the niche group fill that void for women in this in-between age range. Most groups are 20s/30s or 50+. Meanwhile, this group is exclusively intended for 35 to mid/late 40s - but under 50.
About the brunches:
Great care is taken in choosing the brunch spots, with many of them being internationally inspired and offering something beyond the average Canadian brunch. So, those who enjoy a nice brunch ambiance, as much as the visit itself, will especially like this group. Rather than just standard brunch menus, the restaurants will likely be a fusion of West Coast cuisine meets something else. And many of the choices will be at places you may not have heard about yet or that you may not have known offers a brunch. So, more than just meeting new people, you'll discover new and diverse places in this brunch group!
Background for starting this group: Personally, I (the organizer) am Canadian but recently spent time living in Europe, and I have just recently returned to Vancouver. Brunching at lovely spots is something I always love doing weekends wherever I call home at the time. So, brunching is a cherished tradition I hope to start up again here in Vancouver as I settle back in to this foodie haven of a city. It would be wonderful to discover new spots in Vancouver, and visit some old favourites, while making new friends - and connecting people - over a relaxed, enjoyable brunch.
Space is limited to 5 spots + organizer/host, as I'll be making reservations and this is also an ideal size for really getting to know the others at your table.
So, who's up for brunch? Let's brunch together soon! I'll post brunches here to which you can RSVP.
**Be sure to sign up early, as the brunches do fill up. Don't be afraid to put yourself on the waitlist though, as spots do open up last minute when people's schedule changes closer to the day.**
If you sign up but can't attend, please let me know at least 48 hours in advance so that I can free up the spot to someone else. I understand that occasionally, you may have to cancel less than 24hrs before brunch - if you are sick etc. You are allowed one last minute cancel. However, "2 strikes, and you're out." If you cancel last minute or no show twice, without any active attendance in between, you’ll be unable to RSVP to future brunches. Also note that this is intended to be an active group, and membership is proactively reviewed on a regular basis to ensure those in it are engaged and genuinely interested in attending brunches. Note that if you have not attended, or waitlisted for, a brunch in 5 months, your membership will be considered inactive and you may be removed.
