What we’re about

What if Chinese characters aren’t just symbols, but a doorway into the questions we all live with—
questions about happiness, meaning, and what connects us as human beings?

▹ Take the character 人 (ren, “human”).
What do you see?
Two simple strokes—one leaning, one supporting.
What might that suggest?
A figure leaning forward in effort?
Two people supporting one another?
Or perhaps a person standing between heaven and earth?
And what do these possibilities invite us to consider about ourselves?

▹ Chinese characters are among the oldest writing systems still in use.
Each one carries a story, a symbol, and a piece of philosophy.
What makes them unique is that they remain the only living writing system built directly on meaning.

In this meetup, we’ll explore life’s deeper questions through 說文解字—looking at the origins and essence of Chinese characters as a way to reflect on our own lives.
No knowledge of Chinese is required. This isn’t a language class, but an open space for reflection, dialogue, and connection—using Chinese characters simply as a bridge.
Together, we’ll share stories, insights, and moments of awareness, and rediscover what it means to live deeply and authentically.

🌿 You’re warmly invited to bring your own cultural perspective, personal experiences, and reflections.
Our first topic: Knowing Yourself — Who Am I?
Join us for a thoughtful, heart-centered conversation.
Let’s begin the journey inward—one word, one story, one heart at a time.
