While Linux has the spotlight now due to containers, cloud, etc, the desktop environment it provides is like a best kept secret. With recent loosening of the need to have Windows or OSX to operate a computer, Linux Desktop Environments provide many options that were not possible before. If you've been frustrated with things not working anymore in Windows or OSX, there's a good chance they work quite well under Linux!
