🍺🧠 Philosophy Pub - vote on the topic at the door
Casual philosophy/social pub discussion - topic chosen live.
Short summary
Some philosophy nights feel like everyone is trying to sound smarter than the room.
This is not that.
This is a casual pub discussion where we pick the topic together when people arrive. I’ll bring a short list of possible questions, the room votes, and then we follow the one that has the most heat.
Simple.
A drink, a table, a real question, and a group of people willing to think out loud without turning it into a lecture.
The point is not to “win philosophy.”
The point is to have one good conversation that actually moves somewhere.
Not academic.
Not a panel.
Not a place to perform certainty.
Just a sharper-than-average pub night.
Possible topics
I’ll bring a few options and we’ll vote at the door.
Something like:
“Is honesty always a virtue, or just sometimes rude?”
“Are people actually free, or just better at explaining their programming?”
“Is comfort making us weaker?”
“Do we owe strangers anything?”
“Can ambition be healthy, or does it always start eating people?”
“Is modern life making people more independent, or just more alone?”
The final topic depends on the room.
How the evening will go
We’ll arrive, grab drinks / food if people want, settle in, and vote on the discussion question.
Then I’ll open the room with one simple prompt and we’ll go from there.
This will be lightly hosted, not over-managed.
No long speeches.
No debate-bro energy.
No one turning the table into their podcast.
Push back, disagree, ask better questions, change your mind if the room earns it.
That’s the fun part.
The room I want
Curious people.
Not experts.
Not people trying to dominate.
Not people waiting for their turn to monologue.
If you like thinking about life, ethics, society, relationships, freedom, meaning, money, technology, loneliness, or why people behave the way they do, you’ll probably fit.
Listening counts.
