πŸ‘οΈ Debate Night - should you be your real self in public, or put on a mask?
Structured debate + room vote.
Short summary
Visibility sounds like freedom. Be recognized. Be represented. Stop hiding. That is the good version.
But there is another version too: being watched, branded, judged, flattened, disciplined, and turned into a public identity before you have even had time to be a person.
So here is the motion: Being more visible makes people freer. You will have to take a side.
This debate is tied to shame, freedom, public identity, social media, Pride, self-consciousness, and whether being out in the open liberates people or trains them to perform themselves better.
Not culture-war sludge. Not slogans. A real debate.
A few questions already sitting in my head

  • "When does visibility become freedom, and when does it become surveillance?"
  • "Can being out in the open reduce shame, or does it create new kinds of performance?"
  • "Does public identity protect people, or trap them inside a simpler version of themselves?"
  • "What has social media done to the feeling of being watched?"
  • "Is privacy still necessary for becoming yourself?"
  • "Who benefits when everyone is encouraged to be more visible?"

How the debate will work
We'll start with a quick vote: Yes / No / Undecided. Then we split the room by current lean and debate the strongest version of both sides.
Short comments beat speeches. Strong arguments beat loud certainty. Changing your mind is allowed. No dunking. No dominance games. No turning identity into a weapon. A serious room.

Weekend RSVP policy
Our weekend events regularly have waitlists of 20 or more people. If you can no longer attend, please update your RSVP by Thursday evening. This gives someone on the waitlist enough time to make plans and take the available spot.
Members who remain marked as attending and miss two events without cancelling may be removed from the group. Emergencies happen; if something unavoidable comes up, please message the organizer.
Keeping your RSVP accurate helps limited seats go to people who can actually attend.
