Short summary
Making friends as an adult in Vancouver isn’t easy.
Maybe you’re new to the city. Maybe your friends are settling down, busy with work, or live in different cities. Or maybe you’re simply looking for people who are excited to say yes to plans.
This isn’t a dating event.
It’s for people looking to build genuine, long-term friendships through shared experiences and seeing familiar faces over time.
The idea is simple: instead of meeting once and never seeing each other again, let’s build a group that keeps showing up.
This first one is a beach sunset walk + relaxed hang at Kits.
Nothing complicated. No forced networking. No “tell us a fun fact about yourself” hostage situation.
We’ll walk a bit, settle somewhere near the beach, and have a few easy things people can do so the whole night doesn’t depend on constant small talk.
Because honestly, the first meetup can be awkward.
That’s normal.
Having something small to do - a card game, frisbee, sketchbook, book, craft, snack, whatever - takes the pressure off and gives people a way to relax into the room.
The activity is not the goal.
The goal is becoming familiar.
This is probably for you if

  • You’re in your late 20s or 30s.
  • You enjoy getting outside more often than staying in.
  • You’re looking for a few meaningful friendships rather than hundreds of acquaintances.
  • You’re kind, open-minded, and happy to say yes to new experiences.
  • You want people who might actually show up again.
  • You’re okay coming solo, because most people will.

How the evening will go
We’ll meet at Kitsilano Beach Park, do an easy sunset walk, then settle into a relaxed beach hang.
Bring something small if you want:

  • A simple card game.
  • A frisbee.
  • A book.
  • A sketchbook.
  • A small craft.
  • A snack.
  • A blanket.

Or bring nothing and just show up.
Some people will talk right away.
Some people will ease in slowly.
Some people will be quietly grateful that there is something to do besides perform extroversion for two hours.
All of that is fine.
This is not about instant best friends.
It’s about creating the kind of low-pressure, repeatable social space where friendship has a chance to grow over time.
The bigger idea
If this works, we’ll keep building the series over the summer:

  • Beach sunsets.
  • Outdoor movies.
  • Hikes.
  • Pickleball.
  • Volleyball.
  • Paddle boarding.
  • Road trips.
  • Festivals.
  • Camping.
  • Spontaneous after-work plans.

The point is not one perfect event.
The point is seeing familiar faces again and again until Vancouver feels a little less like a city full of almost-friends.
When and where
đź“… Date: Saturday, August 15, 2026
đź•’ Time: 6:00 PM-8:00 PM
📍 Location: Kitsilano Beach Park
Small note
Come solo.
Seriously. Most people will.
This is friendship-first, low-pressure, and built around shared experience rather than forced social performance. Bring good energy, a little patience, and the willingness to become a familiar face.
