🌆🔥 Poetry Night V - heat, restlessness, and the summer city

Poetry discussion + optional read-aloud night.
Short summary
Summer is not always peaceful.
Sometimes it makes people more restless.
Heat. Late light. Open windows. City noise. Bodies outside. Everyone pretending they’re living fully because the weather is finally cooperating.
That’s the feeling for this one.
Poetry Night V is about heat, restlessness, the summer city, time passing too quickly, and that strange pressure to feel alive just because the days are longer.
This is not an open mic.
No performance voice required.
No school-style workshop.
No one dissecting your poem like it’s pinned to a lab tray.
Bring a poem, a stanza, a line, or just yourself. You can read something aloud if you want, or just listen and join the conversation.
The point is not to prove you “get poetry.”
The point is to notice what language does when ordinary speech starts feeling too flat for the season.
A few questions already sitting in my head

• “Why does summer make people feel more alive and more dissatisfied at the same time?”
• “What kind of restlessness only shows up when the weather is good?”
• “Does heat make people more honest, more dramatic, or just more tired?”
• “What line or image feels like a city summer to you?”
• “When does a poem feel true instead of just pretty?”
• “Is nostalgia worse in summer because everything looks like it should be meaningful?”
• “What does poetry catch that normal conversation usually misses?”

How the afternoon will go
We’ll start with a quick hello and a simple question:
“What line, poem, or image has been sitting with you lately?”
Then people can share a poem or short excerpt if they brought one.
Reading aloud is optional. Listening counts.
After each piece, we’ll talk about what it opens up: mood, language, memory, heat, city life, desire, boredom, time, whatever the room finds.
Not a critique circle.
Not a performance night.
Not literature-class stiffness.
A real conversation with language in the middle of it.

You can also bring a poem you want to talk about.
Bring a poem, stanza, line, or short excerpt if you want.
It can be old, modern, famous, obscure, funny, bitter, beautiful, annoying, whatever.
You can also come with nothing (i will bring a package to read)
