Details

๐ŸŽจ We're going to the Eastside Culture Crawl on Sunday.

An artwork can look different when you see the tools, unfinished pieces and working space around it. Something that seemed effortless may turn out to involve a lot of revision, while a small detail you nearly missed may be the artist's main concern. Hearing about that process might deepen your response without determining it. Does understanding how something was made help you see it for yourself, or make you more willing to accept the maker's explanation?

The plan

  • What draws you toward a piece before you know anything about it?
  • What would you ask an artist that the finished work cannot tell you?
  • What makes a piece stay with you even when it isn't to your taste?
