The Mental Tools of Marcus Aurelius

Details

Dive into an engaging discussion on the mental tools of Marcus Aurelius, the philosopher-emperor of Rome. Marcus wrote notes to himself as a spiritual exercise--sometimes while on the battlefield or dealing with conspiracies and catastrophes-- and since his death almost two thousand years ago his journal has been continuously printed and studied, offering guidance to people from all walks of life. We'll look at some brief excerpts from his journal, each one offering a different tool top help us achieve the goals of the Stoic life: eudaemonia (thriving) and ataraxia (peace of mind).

We'll then discuss what insights or disagreements these excerpts arouse, and how we might apply their advice in our daily lives.

Simple beverages and snacks will be provided. 10$ door fee to cover costs, payable in cash when you arrive if you like or by etransfer (message me).
