The Pink Alley and beyond

The Pink Alley in downtown Vancouver, also known as Alley-Oop, used to be a dreary and dirty alley way. The pink alley is now more than a service corridor for dumpsters and vehicles. It is a vibrant pink and yellow urban park thanks to the “More Awesome Now” project, a collaboration between the DVBIA, the City of Vancouver’s VIVA Vancouver program, and HCMA Architecture + Design.

The road and walls of the alley have been splashed with colour, decorated with basketball hoops and amplified with art installations.

We will spend some time here and then check out some alleys and architecture in Gastown.

We will meet for coffee following the walk (12:45) at the Waterfront Centre Food Court … corner of Howe Street and Cordova street (downstairs).

Where will we meet? In front of the Waterfront Skytrain Station. We will say some hellos and greetings and then head off. The route will be posted in the comments.

What should I bring with me? A camera ….. it doesn’t matter what you want to use, any camera is fine.

*Everyone will find something different of interest and the group is sure to break up. Why don’t we try to keep an eye on each other … wait for a straggler?

How do I get there? For transit info....www.translink.ca. If driving, there is metered street parking and parking lots in the area as well.
