The Dragon Boat Races and Festival

Right now, the weather for Sunday is all over the place. In the event of rain,we will cancel no later than 6PM Saturday night. Please check back here and/or check your email.

Since this will be a super busy event, it will be difficult to go anywhere as a group for a coffee after our photowalk, SO LET’S HAVE COFFEE FIRST. We will meet at Gusto,Taste of Italy at 10:00 am.

If you can’t join us for coffee, you will find us by the Bird Sculpture closest to the Tap and Barrel at 11:00.

We want to get us as close to the racers as possible and have scouted out a location that will (hopefully) allow us to do this. We will stay here for 4 or 5 heats, then head back towards Science World. At this point, it will be probably be impossible to stay together as a group. There is just so much going on and everyone will be drawn to different things and the crowd will be huge. Trying to photograph the race will probably draw us to different spots on the sea wall on our way back. The duration of this photowalk is 1.5 hours, but feel free to stay as long as you like.

What can I shoot?
This event will cover just about everything ….. the action of the race is our focus, but their will be entertainment, people, cityscapes. If you are wanting to capture the action of the race, the best places will be along the Science World Boardwalk or near the Concord Pacific Presentation Centre.

What do I need to bring?
Any camera is fine......Camera phone....Point and Shoot....DSLR. Anything is fine. If you want to capture the action of the race, bring a long lens.

How do I get there?
For transit info....www.translink.ca - For those driving, there are pay parking lots everywhere. Street parking is relatively inexpensive on Pacific Avenue.
