Pet-A-Palooza’s The Day of the Dog

Let’s check out North America’s largest pet festival ….. it’s going to be a paw-some time!

Vancouver’s Pet-A-Palooza is a free street festival where thousands of people, dogs and pet-product-related vendors take over the 1100 block of Mainland Street in Yaletown.

This year’s Pet-A-Palooza features the following activities:

Brunch – a pancake breakfast for puppies.

Pool Party – a 120-foot outdoor pool for dogs with floaties, music and more.

Pie Eating Contest – a chance for the dogs to prove who can snack the fastest.

Running of the Bulls – a 20-foot-long race for bulldogs, one for English Bulldogs and one for French Bulldogs.

Wiener Dog Race – a race for dachshunds.

Corgi Races – a 30-foot race specifically for corgis.

Doodle Dog Mania – a 30-foot race for doodles of different kinds.

In addition to the above, there are typically opportunities for photos.

WHERE WILL MEET: We are going to meet for coffee first at JJ Bean - 402 Davie Street. If you are unable to join is we will meet at the Yaletown Roundhouse Station at 10:45

How do I get there? For transit info....www.translink.ca. If driving, there is hourly street parking and lots In the area.

*Rain - if the weather is looking miserable, we will cancel this meet-up no later than 6pm on August 24

WHAT SHOULD I BRING? A camera, it doesn't matter if you have a camera phone, a point and shoot or a DSLR, any camera is fine Wear comfortable clothes and footwear.

Large crowds are expected and it will be impossible to stay together as a group. If you feel uncomfortable about this, bring a friend or buddy up with someone at the beginning of the photowalk. Why don’t we try to keep an eye on each other … wait for a straggler?

RSVP Protocol - if you RSVP to this event and then can’t make it please have the courtesy to change your RSVP so we know in advance that you are not coming. Please do this a soon as you know so that another member on the waiting list can attend.
