and do some street photography!

The perfect way to capture Vancouver’s oldest neighborhood and what’s happening in it!

Street photography is a genre of photography that records everyday life in a public place. The very publicness of the setting enables the photographer to take candid pictures of their surroundings, including those of strangers, often without their knowledge.

Street photographers do not necessarily have a social purpose in mind, but they prefer to isolate and capture moments which might otherwise go unnoticed.

If this genre of photography is new to you, we highly suggest that you google some information about it. It can be intimidating and exhilarating at the same time.

Where will we meet? In front of the Waterfront Station. We will say our hellos, the route will be explained and we will head out. We will meet for coffee at 12:30 in the food court at Cordova Street and Howe Street. If you think you’d like to join us make sure to pay for extra parking.

What should I bring with me? A camera ….. it doesn’t matter what you want to use, any camera is fine. When you google about this, you will find there is a great debate about what lenses to use. Bring as little gear as possible with you.

What can I photograph: once you have googled the subject, you will understand what street photography is and can decided for yourself.

Everyone will find something different of interest and the group is sure to break up. Why don’t we try to keep an eye on each other … wait for a straggler?

How do I get there? For transit info....www.translink.ca. If driving, there is metered street parking and parking lots in the area as well.

Rain - if the weather is looking miserable, we will cancel or postpone this meet-up no later than 6pm on October 4.
