Gastown …. Where Vancouver Began

Gastown is Vancouver’s oldest neighborhood and a designated National Historic Site. Located on the edge of Downtown, it is celebrated for its cobblestone streets, Victorian brick buildings, the world-famous Steam Clock, and an eclectic mix of high-end shops and restaurants. Let’s take to the streets and check out.

Where will we meet? In front of the Waterfront Station. We will say our hellos, the route will be explained and we will head out. We will meet for coffee following the phootowalk. If you think you’d like to join us make sure to pay for extra parking.

What should I bring with me? A camera ….. it doesn’t matter what you want to use, any camera is fine. Bring as little gear as possible with you.

What can I photograph?
Gastown is a photographer’s dream. Architecture ….. street photography, colour and texture ….. scenic landscapes …. Interesting alleys and graffiti. Everyone will find something different of interest and the group is sure to wander. Why don’t we try to keep an eye on each other … wait for a straggler?

How do I get there? For transit info....www.translink.ca. If driving, there is metered street parking and parking lots in the area as well.

Rain - if the weather is looking miserable, we will cancel or postpone this meet-up no later than 6pm on May 29th.
