Power BI is turning 10 — and what better way to celebrate than by looking at how far it’s come? In this session, our resident Power BI expert, Joseph Yeates, will spotlight features that once required complex workarounds but are now built right into the tool. Less DAX, more drag-and-drop!
We’ll cover three powerful updates: field parameters, visual calculations, and the bookmark navigator. Joseph will go through each topic with a “before and after” lens to highlight the transformation. You’ll walk away with practical tips, a few nostalgic nods, and a fresh appreciation for what’s possible in Power BI today.
SPEAKER PROFILE:
Joseph Yeates is an Analytics Consultant with a passion for driving better decision-making through creating, curating, and communicating insights from data. He leverages SQL, Power BI, Excel, Python, and R to model, manipulate, analyze, and visualize information.
A data enthusiast with a background in Retail Banking, Education, and AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction), Joseph advocates for making advanced analytics more accessible by integrating them into business intelligence solutions. He holds an honors degree in Business Administration and Finance, along with certifications in Business Analytics & Decision Making, Applied Database Administration & Design, and Analytics Engineering.

REGISTRATION:
This meet-up will be hosted on Microsoft Teams, and will be recorded to share with others who were not able to attend live. You must RSVP for the event in order to access the Teams Meeting link.
JOINING THE EVENT:
Attendees can join the Teams Meeting starting at 8:45am on the day of the event. The link will be visible only if you RSVP beforehand.
Once the event gets underway at 9:00am, we ask that attendees make sure they are on MUTE, so background noise and distractions are minimized.
During the presentation, attendees can type questions and comments into the chat area, which will be monitored by the event hosts. There will be time for Q&A at the end, where attendees can un-mute their mic and even share their video to ask questions.
