A Surfeit of Service Objects: a discussion of the pros and cons of the service object pattern.
We hope everyone had a great summer! We look forward to seeing old and new faces.
About the talk:
We're going to open up the meetup this month to discuss and critique the service object pattern. We'll review the common locations for business logic, the evolution from the "fat models, skinny controllers" mantra, invoke some acronyms like SRP from Uncle Bob, and the idea of writing "pure" object oriented code as opposed to "procedural" code. We don't know where we'll end up as the discussion will depend on who is there to contribute.
About the Moderator:
Weston Triemstra is the principal at Netsign, a boutique product development shop in Vancouver. He's been building web applications for a while now. He is a fan of the service object pattern and looks forward to an interesting discussion.
