Build your own custom slider without using a plugin

Image sliders are quite popular and add a nice visual element to any website. You could use a plugin for this, but WordPress has all of the functionality built-in for you to integrate one in any theme of your liking. Christine Rondeau will demonstrate how to build a custom slider without a plugin on your WordPress site!

This session will be of interest to theme developers who often:

• Build custom themes for clients
• Want to learn more how to integrate an image slider using WordPress's gallery function and NO plugin
• Want to learn how to integrate jQuery properly
• Do not fear editing theme files including functions.php

In this presentation, Christine will walk you through how to edit a basic theme and include an image slider and portfolio section.

Christine Rondeau (http://www.bluelimemedia.com/) is a WordPress developer who works mostly with graphic designers. They create the design, gather the functionality requirements and content and she makes it work. Christine also teaches a 12 week WordPress class at Langara.
