The Cats of Gokogu Shrine...Lets go to the DOXA film festival!

Details

Soon there might not be any cats left at Gokogu Shrine, but the lives they have touched remain, and Kazuhiro Soda’s sparing, sweet documentary film is a gorgeous tribute to the independent felines, and the kind people who lived in harmony with them.

Our Film Meetup has found 3 great DOXA films to watch on Thurs, May 8 at 3 Different Venues. There's something for everyone! Pick your favourite & join us! 'The Tree of Authenticity' and '8 Postcards from Utopia' are posted separately.

At the Shrine, stray cats bask in the attention of visitors who come to feed and photograph them. But beneath the charm lies a delicate balance between care and control, devotion and disruption. In his signature observational style, Kazuhiro Soda captures the rhythms of this shared space, with kindness, precision and occasional involvement.

This is the film's Canadian Premiere!
