➳ About Us ➳
Maintain connections by seeing the same faces every week instead of always making new introductions. A friendly and familiar atmosphere takes trust too, another reason why this group is kept small. Think of this meetup group like regulars in your neighbourhood pub, "so what'd you do on the weekend?" It's not about the number of facebook friends or instagram followers, but friendly faces. This means: quality of connection > number of connections and over time, strangers → friends 🎈😃 Someone once told me that a person can be in your life for a reason, season, or a lifetime, so lets see what we can learn from each other.
➳ How it all Began ➳
I met a man named Juan Carlos (co-organizer) at Breka Bakery on Fraser street in September 2018, a random stranger reading a book about leadership. I had just moved from Ontario then, so it was nice meeting someone new. I grew up here and was more reserved, but Ontarians are friendlier and showed me so much kindness so I tried to bring it back home. Even though we came from different backgrounds (race, gender, age, profession), we had the same foundation: to be open-minded and curious in others. I've been organizing this since October 2018 but expanded online on January 2019 --> meetup.com so we can meet new people
➳ Guidelines (just two!) ➳
1. Must attend one event within the first two months of joining the group to stay in. After the first time, how often you decide to come is up to you. Some people thought it meant "mandatory one meetup/month", but how often is entirely your choice. For example, if joining in January, hope to see you sometime in January/ February
2. Membership due is $4. Please pay membership online, good for the rest of the year. Organizers pay a yearly subscription, so 50 people chipping in contributes to keeping this group going
