Your ample expression of emotion was indeed what made it such a powerful speech to me. Great job.

I've got a handy, little digital recorder that I will start using for practicing and timing my speeches.

Public Speaking remains the #1 phobia.
    Glossophobia - Public Speaking
    Necrophobia - Fear of Death
    Arachnophobia - Fear of Spiders
    Achluphobia - Fear of Darkness
    Acrophobia - Fear of Heights

Toastmasters is the #1 cure for Glossophobia!

Mumbling a name is not an introduction but it is what the majority of us do. It is such a relief not be petrified by the simple act of speaking, and Toastmasters is the key!

I Read Daniel Goleman's book "emotional Intelligence" in 1995. and in "Oprah Winfrey show" they put some 6 year kid in a room alone with hidden camera, and put one marshmallow in front of them, told then if they don't eat the marshmallow when the adult come back in a few minutes the kid will be reward 2 marshmallow. Watching the kids trying so hard not to eat the marshmallow are so fun.
and the reason is that if that kid can delay the instant gratification resist the temptation not to eat the one marshmallow in order to reward 2 marshmallow.
they follow the kids for some years to find out the ones who can wait in order to get the 2 marshmallow later.they are doing very well through school, less trouble and and do better in life.
they prove that the ability to discipline is a must in learning and in life.

Evergreen Toastmasters 973 --- Day 104, Daily Tip 104: EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE. EMPATHY takes into account the feelings of others when you make decisions. This is different than "taking-on" other people's troubles. (Pat Johnson DTM). :-) #EvergreenToastmasters

Evergreen Toastmasters 973 --- Day 103, Daily Tip 103: EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE. Motivation relates to possessing a passion for achievement for its own sake, not because someone requires it of you. This is principal ingredient for developing effective leadership. (Pat Johnson DTM). :-) #EvergreenToastmasters
