How does it work?

Here’s what you need to know before you sign up:

  • Come prepared with your portfolio on a clean, presentable laptop or tablet. Don’t count on being able to connect to the Internet at the venue
  • You'll get to sign up to have one or more portfolio review sessions from a selection of four UX experts from different backgrounds and get their feedback on your work
  • You will have 15 minutes to present your portfolio and receive feedback. You should spend about 7 minutes presenting your work and 8 minutes discussing and getting feedback
  • Prepare 3 to 5 key points per piece and explain your process and thinking. Be concise and confident, but also open and receptive to suggestions
  • Dress as you would for work - if in doubt, go for business casual

Where do the fees go?

VanUE relies on the kindness and generosity of sponsors and volunteers to run events that break even. We ask for a small fee to help us cover the costs of organizing the events. We use the money from the events to fund future events or speakers, or sometimes to pay for part of a social activity after an event.

Who are the reviewers?

We've assembled an awesome group of local professionals who have agreed to act as reviewers. Each is outstanding on their own, and together they bring over 57 years of combined experience to help you improve your portfolio. Here's the list. Click to see their LinkedIn profiles.
